A coppy stool such as we had at home has a round seat and three legs. The word “coppy” comes from coppicing where a tree was cut off near the base and then new shoots grew. A low form of pollarding. In the open space, there is a willow that was cut and is now growing new shoots and if a slice had been taken off the trunk it would have made a good coppy stool.
Slocken meant moisten as in a drink or when adding more liquid to a mixture.
